TO SEARCH FROM WITHIN
In each and every lifetime, we search for joy and truth…
We search our souls for wisdom…We search our souls for youth…
The memory that was made, still lingers in our mind…
So we search our hearts for the feelings that will carry us thru time…
Thru endless mazes of darkness, we keep the flame alive…
We keep the chain intact in order to survive…
Thru lonely hours of heartache and happy times of pleasure…
We continue the search for the memories that will last us to forever…
Forever seeking truth…forever seeking beauty…
Forever searching life to find our goal and duty…
And then, at last, we find our goal…
We climb up the ladder and escape from the hole…
We reach the top and look around…
But where is the happiness They said would be found…
What they didn’t tell us was to search from within…
This is where it lies…

ISN’T IT TIME?
If man…and I mean that in such a way as to include woman…is to attain what our maker intended us to be, we all must have in our possession or are able to comprehend the “magical” power…I should say goodness…that these two very special “tools” are able to give those who attain them. I call these tools, “The Tool of Wisdom and Enlightenment”… and the tool of all tools…”The Tool of Love and Understanding”. For isn’t wisdom the tool that makes Love grow?
Is not love a feeling that grows inside you...? A feeling that becomes so strong, so right, that it leads you back to yourself… A feeling that guides you to your destiny.
Is not love a feeling that changes our lives, our minds, our bodies? Isn’t this the tool that all human beings should possess? Isn’t this the feeling that we are all born with, but somewhere along the way we lose control of?
Isn’t love the feeling that God intended us to attain? Isn’t love the feeling that we should pass on to others…to our children? Isn’t love really the only tool we need to build our houses?
Isn’t love the tool that our maker, our Master Carpenter, gave each and every one of his apprentices so that they may grow? Isn’t love the answer to the question why? Isn’t love a means to a beginning?
Isn’t love the answer to our problems? Isn’t love in the hearts, the minds, and the bodies of all the Carpenter’s apprentices? Doesn’t love have the power to destroy all houses, all walls?
Doesn’t love have the power to make all apprentices work every hour, every week, every day to achieve it? Doesn’t love have the potential to change the life, the mind, the body of those who attain it? Hasn’t it been said so many times, so many ways?
Hasn’t love been with us from the beginning of time? Shouldn’t love be with us to the end of time? Isn’t love the feeling that makes us who we are and what we want to become?
Isn’t love our ultimate goal in life? Isn’t love our ultimate dream? Isn’t it time we all attained this dream or at least try?
Hasn’t enough time passed so that we know what is right and what is wrong? Shouldn’t we at least try to let this feeling grow? Shouldn’t we at least give love a chance to grow before we say that it doesn’t exist?
Weren’t we put on this earth to achieve an ultimate goal? Shouldn’t we all work together to achieve an ultimate goal? Doesn’t it always turn out right when everyone knows in their hearts the ultimate goal that spurns their sweat?
Isn’t love a magical feeling that can only be felt once you have seen through the walls that we ourselves have created? Isn’t love our past, our present, and our future? Shouldn’t we at least try to love before we hate because isn’t hate just a lack of love?
Isn’t it time we let love grow? Isn’t it time we come together? Isn’t it time we let it be? Isn’t it time I held your hand, you held mine? Isn’t it time she loves you? Isn’t it time we all feel fine? Isn’t it time we all come to the end of the long and winding road? Isn’t it time we let the sun in? Isn’t it time that I am he, he is she, she is we and we are all together? Isn’t it time that we can all imagine all the people living life in peace? Isn’t it time we gave peace a chance? It’s only love and that is all. Isn’t it time all you need is love?
For in the end the love you make is equal to the love you take. Let us live as one…let us be as one…let us see as one…ISN”T IT TIME?

THE TREASURE OF LOVE
Family and friends, pets and toys
These are the things that bring us joys
Loving and laughter, happiness and pleasure
These are the dreams that all of us treasure
To be caring and loving, to be gentle and true
These are the feelings that make us feel new
Emotions of the heart that take meaning through the eyes
These are the feelings that no one can hide
Soft spoken words that only true lovers can hear,
Take hold of a heart and carry us near
The sweet smell of roses, the taste of sweet wine
The melody of a gentle love song enters the mind
The candle is lit, the mood is just right
The magic of love will be delivered tonight
The fire burns brightly and smoke fills the air
You reach for each other, there’s love everywhere
The power takes hold, it starts from within
Your senses lose control, your head starts to spin
The romance that has blossomed takes hold of the heart
You reach for each other to let the feelings start
Your bodies bring you warmth, you never felt so free
You see each other’s eyes, you feel the ecstasy
You look through the eyes and into the soul
Your body seems to shiver, your head seems to roll
You feel each other’s kiss, your eyes close as one
The magic fills your senses, the secret is undone

(This poem was written with the loving inspiration of my Grandfather Perez, whose soul now rests in heaven and in my heart)

Woman and girl, Man and boy
Now is the time to live with joy
Husband and wife, lover and friend
Stay the course until the very end
Live your lives thru love
This special feeling that comes from above
Be kind and gentle, be open and true
Let the feeling fill your senses thru and thru
Let the feeling rush to your head; take the feeling to your bed
Rest peacefully in your sleep and the feeling you will keep
Keep the feeling alive; pass it on to your child
And if the feeling is true, it will tame those who are wild
Let the little ones be open and free
Give the little ones a chance to see
Give the little ones a chance to be
Listen for the truth that speaks thru the voice of youth
Offer advice and see them thru the years
And when they are frightened, calm their fears, dry their tears
See yourselves through them, look in their eyes
The feelings inside will tell you no lies

ENDEAVOUR FOREVER
Like all shuttle missions, STS-118 is about the future: putting the International Space Station a step closer to completion and gathering experience that will help people return to the moon and go on to Mars.

But this mission also will see a two decade-old dream realized and a vision of inspiration completed. Twenty-two years after first being selected as Christa McAuliffe’s backup in the Teacher in Space Project, Barbara Morgan will strap into space shuttle Endeavour as a fully-trained astronaut. She is one of five mission specialists in the seven-member crew.
“The mission has lots of angles,” Matt Abbott, lead shuttle flight director, said. “There’s a little bit of assembly; there’s some resupply; there’s some repairs. And there are some high-visibility education and public affairs events. It’s a little bit of everything.”
The little bit of assembly – as in assembly of the International Space Station – refers to the next segment that will be attached to the right side of the station's backbone, or truss. The new segment, known as the S5, is relatively small and weighs about 5,000 pounds. The piece provides clearance between sets of solar arrays on the truss structure.
That doesn’t mean, however, that installing it will be easy. Every crew member will play a part. Pilot Charles Hobaugh and space station Flight Engineer Clay Anderson will operate the station robotic arm that moves the segment into place, while spacewalkers David Williams and Richard Mastracchio provide guidance from the outside and finish the installation. Commander Scott Kelly and mission specialists Tracy Caldwell and Benjamin Alvin Drew will help out inside. Morgan will operate the shuttle robotic arm to provide television views of the operation.
“It’s less than two inches from some critical electronic components that we want to make sure we don’t come in contact with,” Kelly said. “So that’s a very tight clearance.”
The resupply is not so little, either. This will be the last dedicated shuttle mission providing cargo to the station for 12 to 15 months. Russian Progress vehicles and the European Space Agency's Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) will bring cargo to the station in the interim. So Endeavour will carry enough supplies to last the station residents for awhile.

“I think right now the manifest has us bringing up about 5,000 pounds and then bringing down about 5,000 pounds,” Kelly said. “So it’s a lot of spare parts, food, clothing, scientific experiments. We’ll unload that and then reload it with stuff that needs to come home – garbage, spare parts that are no longer needed on the station.”
Then there’s the repair work, which Lead Station Flight Director Joel Montalbano expects to be one of the most difficult parts of the mission. One of the station’s control moment gyroscopes – a spinning wheel used to control the space station’s orientation – experienced problems and was shut down in October. Program managers determined that it needed to be replaced during STS-118. Kelly’s crew had less than a year to train for the task.
“The other stuff is a challenge, but we’ve known it was coming,” Montalbano said. “We’ve developed procedures, we’ve trained the crew – it’s all known. The gyroscope, it’s a little bit new to us. We’re putting a major task in when we’re well into training.”
Luckily, it’s not new to NASA. The crew of STS-114 replaced a faulty gyroscope in 2005, and Montalbano said learning from their experience should help the team overcome the time crunch.

Added all together, it’s a lot of stuff to get done in one mission – but thanks to an electrical boost from the space station, the 118 crew could have a little more time than most missions to get it all done. Endeavour will be the first to try out a new system designed to let the shuttle use electrical power from the station.
The extra juice will allow Endeavour to stay in space for an extended period of time while docked to the station. STS-118 currently is an 11-day mission with three spacewalks planned. Mission managers could add three more days and an additional spacewalk after the Station-Shuttle Power Transfer System (SSPTS) is activated and checked out.
Future missions could gain as many as six extra days once all the station’s solar arrays are installed and providing power to the SSPTS. This will become more important as the construction of the station continues.
“I’m really excited about going up and doing our jobs and doing them well,” Morgan said. “I’m excited about experiencing the whole spaceflight, seeing Earth from space for the very first time and experiencing weightlessness and what that’s all about. I am excited about seeing what it’s like living and working onboard the International Space Station.”
Morgan trained side by side with McAuliffe and witnessed the 1986 Challenger accident in which McAuliffe and her six fellow crew members died. The Teacher in Space Project was suspended then, but Morgan held on to her NASA ties. In the months following that tragedy, she went on the visits McAuliffe would have made, talking to children and teachers all over the country. Then, when she was selected in 1998 to become a full-fledged astronaut, she jumped at the opportunity.
In 2002, Morgan was chosen as the first educator to become a mission specialist astronaut. The Educator Astronaut Project evolved from the Teacher in Space Project. Both aimed to engage and attract students to explore the excitement and wonder of spaceflight and to inspire and support educators. Morgan's primary duty is the same as it is for the entire crew -- accomplish the planned objectives of the station assembly mission. But she also will take part in several education-related activities.

As it was in the beginning, so it must be now…

Come with me as we travel through time
THrough white colored roses embossed in my rhyme
A love affair may somtimes be...
Like heaven on earth if the feelings are set free
But when one has doubts that their love affair is true
The white colored roses often turn blue
Not knowing if a love is real
May to you seem like not a big deal
But to a romantic like me
It's the true love inside that lets me see...it sets me free
When can I be sure that this love of the heart is pure?
Only when I look in her eyes and see my own soul

Without the ability to touch her and see her eyes beam...
True love may not be as it may seem
You see, I call out to her by each letter that I right
Yet, I have the feeling that this love affair is not right
If she wants my love, I will be there by her side
But she seems timid, frightened and shy
My Juliet, she lives across the ocean that much is true
And she says she wants me to write her because she is feeling sad and blue
But I feel she needs me by her side if a love affair is to take place
I need her to assure me that a love can exist by looking in her face
For love comes easy when a man says he loves a woman and he can be with her each day
But a true love takes time when each is apart from the other and their romance comes in another way
Audrey, be my Juliet and rescue me with a deeper love
And I promise to return that love that just may have come from above

So fair was her body

I question true love and where it is often to be found
Some say it comes to those who seldom seek...but for all to astound

For she has given me the strength to play the poet's role
Sometimes all we need is inspiration to help others in need
Yet I've found that its hard to overcome ones selfishness and greed
But I try as the days go by
So I continue to call out to a woman named Michelle
She has given me hope that she could someday be my belle
But I'm still full of doubt as to her sincerity to my heart
Even though through her words she has inspired my art
Are you truly my Juliet in waiting...my princess and my queen?

But first we must meet and know for sure

What goes on behind these doors has the taste of Hollywood gone wild
This world that I speak of is not for a child
There's free love everywhere
But true love is also in the air
So come with me and escape to another world....where the love is free
A world where you can express yourself and be who you want to be
There is another world out there....I've been there and back
I don't like this world....for it's true love that they lack
I'm trying to get high to get me by
But this world is cold and black
It's like living in a black hole without stars at night
Just a word from my soulmate will help make it right
For living each day alone as I do...
Is like living a dream that has become surreal and untrue
I need to find that world where my words have meaning to others that speak
THe famous and the common the rich and the meek
I know it exists for God has given me a peek
But first I must go inside to find the truth

Some are heartless others exist in another state of mind
But the one constant figure we all seem to share

A grandmother’s love is so special and so true….that wherever

Now that I have witnessed what true love can be
I reach deep inside to see
If this woman is to be a part of my life
Will she take my love and become my wife
I've yet to see her face but something tells me she could be the one
Does she want children....a daughter or a son?

HOW MUCH LOVE?
How much love can one give?
If they have but one life to live
Is it possible for one to love during many lives?
To have not one but many wives
How much teaching must one have to learn the truth?
Is it possible to gain wisdom while still in our youth?
I would say that wisdom comes with age
That we often learn from people who we may call a sage
Is this what we consider the New Age?

Circle the earth and then look down
See the universal love...its all around
Can you see the peace and harmony in this new world I have found?
It's there if you can still imagine this world for all to astound
Circle the earth and then look down
But there's greed and hunger all around
Can we dare to change the world with peace and love?
Perhaps we can do this in a world that lies above
In space there is hope that what we see...
Could be the beginning of heaven for you and me

When the rainbow shines, reality is altered
The sky lights up thru the brilliance of the sun
A speckled band of color becomes the gateway to the heavens
The shear beauty of its elegance radiates in the mind…
You take off and soar thru the heavens
Riding thru the open air, you never felt so free
The birds are your neighbors, thru their eyes you see
The sky holds the answers and the reasons why….
This is a feeling you cannot deny
Your eyes are wide open, the colors shine thru
Your world is so beautiful, so endless, so blue

You spread your wings, you’re feeling so free
Up, up, and away…across the oceans, above the sea

True love may be hard to believe
True love may be easy to sustain
But the pain…yes the pain is the lock that secures the door
Any more and the door will lose its hinge
What is love?...Who is the lover?
It’s undercover, the love that secures the door
With light at the crack, the door is thrown back
Back to the youth and secure in its truth
The light, yes, the light generates the power
To open wide and see inside
The love of the soul…how deep is the hole?
True love of the mate…the key to the heart
Locked within the light and feeling for the truth
The door swings open and in shines the youth
True love may live in the soul
